Re: DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION – MISCONDUCT OF MR EDDIE SCHEUN
We wish to formally record our dismay and shock by the response of your Department which appeared in Daily Dispatch of Tuesday March 16, 2021, Page 5, article regarding the misconduct of Mr Eddie Scheun, our view is that it is tantamount to condoning the corruption allegations against Mr Eddie Scheun, head of Legal Services.
BACKGROUND OF THIS PARTICULAR MATTER
During 11 May 2018, the Department of Education submitted a memorandum to the Portfolio Committee of Education with regard to the parliamentary questions for written reply IQP 10/18 question 93-96. When we came across with this communique sometime in November 2020, we wrote to the Honourable Chairperson of Education Portfolio Mr M, Saziwa on 24th November 2020 wherein we made a follow up with regard to the above mentioned parliamentary questions. Please find our correspondence attached marked ECBF 1″ for reference.
It is surprising for the department or Eddie to claim that the process was pure and clean when in fact this process was initiated by the legal section of the DoE whose head of it is Mr Eddie Scheun.
Supply chain section merely processed what was the initiative of Mr Eddie. References is made to the declaration of interest in terms of SBD 4 which needs further investigation. Further, the official orders were issued and after service were rendered by his brother and friends invoices were submitted to his Directorate for payment and authorized by him.
We as ECBONAFIDES Forum we viewed this as a serious misconduct and corrupt behavior on his part hence we wrote to the Portfolio Committee for further follow up to enquire as to what happened to this matter which was raised by EFF then.
I have personally spoken to the chairperson of the portfolio Mr M. Saziwa and he said they were dealing with the matter and they would update our Forum soon. We are still awaiting for them to finish their findings.
It must be mentioned that if the process is not receiving urgent attention will not hesitate to open a criminal case against Mr Eddie based on the corrupt conduct caused by a senior manager of legal services, it its really unheard of and worse the Department of Education has done nothing about this he is still in the service of the government department. I wonder if this was done by a black person, he/she would have been gone long time ago.
We hope to hear from you.
